We all know that the skill of your cosmetic injector can make or break your results. That’s why it’s so crucial to receive Botox® and dermal fillers from a licensed provider who has years of training and experience like our beauty team here at COR Medspa. But did you know that YOU also play a role in the results of your injectables session?
There are certain things YOU can do to enhance your treatment! Here goes:
1. Start using retinol.
If retinol isn’t a routine ingredient in your skin care regimen already, our only response to you is why not? A derivative of vitamin A, the most widely-studied and proven skin care ingredient on the planet, retinol is a skin rejuvenator in every sense, stimulating cellular turnover and new collagen growth for thicker, clearer, more supple skin that looks and behaves years younger. With daily retinol application, you’re enhancing the foundational structure of your skin, while dermal fillers and Botox are providing a temporary smoothing and volume lift, so you’re tackling your dermis from every angle.
2. Cut down on alcohol, aspirin, and NSAIDs.
We know how hard it is to give up your glass of wine with dinner, but do yourself a favor and become a teetotaler at least two days before your injectables session. Alcohol is a blood thinner, which increases your risk of bruising. Other blood thinning substances include the 4 G’s: Garlic, ginkgo, ginger, and ginseng.
3. Chill out.
Refrain from touching your treatment sites. Apply ice on and off for a few minutes at a time to reduce swelling. Rest at home. Avoiding the gym and yoga, any activities that make you heat up, which swells blood vessels, exacerbating your swelling or bruising. Also, yoga poses that put you upside down (downward dog, anyone?) are a no-no because they can make your injectable move to an undesired location.
